The Brief
YAS Marina Circuit needed to update their digital assets, they came to us to onboard them to the YAS Connect platform that has been developed over the last 2 years. Coming onboard to the platform gives them an amazing opportunity to get access to a suite of components and access to visitor data for all the other assets on the platform.
Build on Sitecore and with react it made a flexible offering and also gave us the opportunity to push the suite of components to the limit to make sure that they suited the YAS Marina Circuit brand.

Research
We started with several exercises, we conducted an exercise to understand the client’s user base in more detail with a user centred design canvas. Based on this data plus information form they site, app and customer support centre we built out personas to help us focus on the key journeys.

Benchmarking
We went on to benchmark their competitors around the world, using the research we gathered we knew we needed to focus on two key journeys. The ability to easily find information about events and activities at YMC, then a quick and easy booking journey.
We found YMC’s old booking journey had 12 steps, after benchmarking this journey we found their best competitor had only 6 steps in comparison.

The
Design
YMC isn’t just an F1 track it’s a fully functional events venue with the ability to cater for all kinds and sizes of events, we wanted to make sure we got this across in the final direction of the product. After all the research, benchmarking, understanding users pain points, understanding business needs, platform ability, journey mapping and wireframes we pitched in this amazing design.
Breaking the mould from all previous websites joining the platform from YAS island showing how truly flexible the YAS Connect platform can be when pushed form the experience design point of view.
